PTV Sports is the 2nd Pakistani sports channel after Geo Super owned by Geo Tv network and first ever national sports channel of Pakistan. PTV Sports has started its test transmission in December 2011 from AsiaSat 3S at an orbit of 105.5ºE. An agreement signed between Pakistan Television Corporation and Zee Tv to broadcast PTV Sports channel for spreading healthy activities through sports events from across the globe.
The Pakistan’s minister of information and broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told National Assembly that PTV is digitizing according to the need of new era and to compete with private channels which are equipped with latest technology and prevailing across the Pakistan. She added that the digitizing process should be completed till December 2012 and the new sports channel “PTV Sports” is the new addition to the Pakistan Television family which will telecast the sports event and programs for and from Pakistan.
