Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd Test Day 5 Highlights
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
The 3rd test between Pakistan and Srilanka was a match of true heorics, brave decisions and some wrong approaches. The day one of the game looked a nightmare for the batsmen as the ball was seaming around and conditions were quite useful for the seam bowling. The evidence of this was the falling 13 wickets on the first day. Pakistani team was all out on that day and Srilankan team loose three quick wickets in the closing moments of the day.
The second day was a washout which affected a lot the results of the match. Then came the third day which was another testing day for the batsmen but some gutsy batting from the Srilankan middle and lower order put the Srilankan team into driving seat giving them a lead of over 100 runs. But by that time the pitch’s nature was completely changed.
The evidence of it was the free-following batting on the fourth day by the Pakistani players. By the end of the day Pakistani team, took the lead but the late collapse put the Srilankan team ahead. The last day, completely changed the direction of the game courtesy of great batting skills shown by the young wicket keeper Adnan Akmal and Asad Shafiq, they batted their heart out and gave Pakistani team a chance to go for the kill. But Srilankan batsmen stood firm and hold on to their nerves to guide there team to safety.
This test match was full of taciturns it shifted one way to another. Though Srilankan team got a number of momment to get the Pakistani team out of the match but they were not able to seize the momment. Their best possible chance was on the last day when were set a target of 270 in 70 plus overs. But defensive approach from their batsmen side put win aside for them. But Pakistani team were quite better in this sense their batsmen batted postively especially after conceding a lead of over 100 runs in the second innings, there captain also responded with an attacking move by declearing at the momment where Srilankan would have easily run away the game.
Pakistani team could take a lot of positives and negative out of this match. The best one is that there young guns are coming to this level quickly. With the maturity that Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq batted was outstanding they both came at difficult time in second inning but they batted quite patiently and positively. Especailly, Asad Shafiq who made half-centuries in both the inning was the one to be watched out in particular. But Pakistani batting must improve against the seam bowling because their next assignment would be against the best possible seam attack. For Srilankans, they should get their approach more positive because thir approach on last day chasing the target was a big question mark. But as a team they played good cricket throughout and Perera has bought stability they were looking for. So, they would be looking forward to be a better test team in future.
